Day 2 Human Environmental Interaction
It was the second day at Cardigan and I was having a blast. The first day felt a little slow but today I had a good feeling that it was going to be fast. Today was the day we would hike to the summit of Mount Cardigan and hopefully two more. Our group decided we would try our hardest to hike at least three mountains if we had enough time maybe four. As the day began I woke up to one of my bunk mates rummaging through her bag trying to find her clothes and as she walked out the door it SLAMMED shut and woke me up. I walked into the bathroom so I would not wake anyone up. After 10 minutes passed of brushing my teeth and putting my hair up I walked back into my room and everyone was up. I picked out my clothes for the day, got dressed and went downstairs for breakfast. It was my groups turn to clean up after everyone was done eating.
To start off the day our group met in our meeting spot we picked yesterday. Which was a big rock in the front of the AMC Lodge. As we waited for our guide we decided who our, navigator, snack person, lunch person, water person and our leader would be. When our guide found us we started off to Firescrew the first mountain we would hike. The hike was long but after that it seemed pretty fast. The top of Firescrew was beautiful. But it seemed like all the way up there was trash everywhere. At the top you could see, lakes, trees, and mountains that seemed to never end. We ate lunch at the summit of Firescrew and started our way to Cardigan when we finished. At the top of Cardigan it was practically the same view as Firescrew but bigger. The last mountain we summited was South Peak.
We hiked back stopping to sketch and play some games. Using trail blazers (a yellow mark that was on the ground or on trees that lead us back to the lodge safely) to make our way home. When we got back I went to shower and came back outside to kids running around playing catch. We were called in for dinner and ate tacos what a great dinner. After that it was time for stories then bed. It was such a fun day and great day to hike.
